Sasuke’s given name comes from the legendary ninja Sarutobi Sasuke. His surname, Uchiha, is another way of pronouncing “uchiwa”, or a paper fan, which is actually the Uchiha clan symbol. Uchiwa can be used to fan flames, making the flame hotter — referring to the fact that the Uchiha is a clan of fire-jutsu users.

Sasuke Uchiha is a former member of Kakashi Hatake’s Team 7, which, at the time of his membership, consisted of himself, Naruto Uzumaki, and Sakura Haruno. At the start of the series, Sasuke is established as a natural genius, excelling at all that he does and finding little difficulty in more challenging tasks. Because of this and his looks, Sasuke is very popular amongst the girls in his age group, with each wanting Sasuke to like them. Despite the number of people vying for his affection, Sasuke’s only interest is in gaining strength, and has no interest in working with others if they cannot help him achieve this goal. While he does in time begin to break out of this shell, Sasuke’s quest for power is ever present throughout the series and influences the choices he makes.

El are Sharinganul, o abilitate speciala a clanului Uchiha, care ii îngăduie sa copieze si sa utilizeze ninjutsul, genjutsul si cateodata taijutsul altor ninja.
